Engineering the event booth
If you are operating just one show and it is small booth operated by just you, you can skip these insights. If you want to build your booth for the long haul, as an investment, read on. This listing gives you tips for optimizing your trade show booth experience.
-
Built for the future.
Create a simple, effective, sturdy and reusable booth. Yes it’s an investment, and it will cost more. If you are reading this post your thinking should be purchasing reuse materials that can handle multiple show use. Avoid loose foam core signage that is bound to get damaged and only last a couple of events. Put money into quality items that can get handled without sustaining damage.
-
Let’s meet on that.
Create a conference area for attendees to relax and have a discussion. They have likely been walking around all day. Give them a break.
-
Be atmospheric.
Enhance your booth’s atmosphere. Light, music, aromatherapy.
-
Product staging.
Like actors on a stage are lit when they are performing, so should your products. Convention centers are warehouses that are lit worse than a department store. If your tradeshow booth is not visible, it is not functional. Use LED clip lights
hooked up to a power source or run off battery to highlight your banners, key messaging and logos. Use light to create an atmosphere, mood and drama. Consider gelled or colored lights for accents.
-
Optimized for organization.
Label your bins so you can replenish your stock without missing a beat or fumbling between boxes.
-
The seamless booth.
Clean the edges of your booth. Use drapes to hide hardware and engineering of your booth. Use spandex table covers to hide folding table legs.
-
Lite-Show.
Don’t bring the full-line. Bring products that representation product categories. Stock your booth with just a few items that are different from each other.
-
Wider is better.
If you are paying by the square foot, look into the option of an 11×9 booth. This will give you a chance to have larger frontage and pay the same price as a square booth.
-
Think scalable.
Consider a modular booth design managed by a tradeshow company that can expand year after year as your company and budget grows. You can add on components and update campaign graphics as sections.
