Experiential Ideas for Your Next Event
Once you attract attendees to your booth you’ll want to quickly immerse them in your brand experience. here are some experiential ideas to get your visitors excited about your brand.
-
Be conceptual.
Design you booth unconventionally. If you are a technology company, design your booth to be a coffee shop with café tables featuring your product.
-
Do you know “the QR code”?
Leverage QR codes. It stands for “Quick Read”. It’s a square graphic that is a visual representation of data, like a long URL. Your phone camera can translate it and take you to the destination link with a special QR code reader app for iPhone. Use them and be the eco booth. Do not lug around and hand out of literature. Hand out a business card with QR codes for attendees to scan later to get literature online. Create a QR code today, it’s easy. You can also download a QR code reader app for Android.
-
The walking billboards.
Let other attendees in on the fact something exciting is happening at your booth. Handout quality branded bags. Turn attendees into walking billboards.
-
Now playing.
Create an attraction. Storyboard a video presentation; film short commercials or teasers. Create a looping video production with music, text, animation, movement and brand colors. Favor text over voice-overs as it will be easier to communicate via text in the noisy environment. This should not be a replacement for your elevator speech but an accent. Here’s a sample video presentation.
-
Credibility king.
Demonstrate credibility. Display media coverage, testimonials from known figures that enhance your brand.
-
Stand out from the crowd.
Standing out at a trade show is paramount to the success you will achieve at a trade show. Show your fun side, wear fun costumes that enhance or compliment your brand message.
-
A uniform brand.
If you are going for a professional look more than fun. Make sure the staff has a uniform Appearance. Use branded name tag designs that matches your logo colors. Wear matching polos.
-
Giveaway great content.
Promote free premium content for the price of an email. Give access to a free eBook or content for dropping a business card. Provide the link to the book in the form of a QR code.
-
Lead yourself to qualified leads.
Reach your audience in a more targeted way than an open business card drop. Rent a scanner from the event company if available. Ask permission of engaged prospects to scan their badge. Scanning is easier than collecting business cards with notes.
-
Show your stuff.
Have scrapbooks with real customer testimonials.
-
Professional Takeaways.
Design collateral materials and print them to hand out at your booth to encourage attendees to follow-up with you. Consider the eco option of handing out a special trade show business card with a QR code that links them to your business collateral.
-
Be premium.
If you think your follow-up sheet is going to be tossed handout lightly branded premium gifts. Hand out branded screen cleaners, koozies, nice pens, customizable USB drives. Better yet sample products takeaways will allow attendees to directly recall your product.
-
Geographically tuned.
Modify your branded booth to reflect a certain region. Design your booth with areas you can customize with geographically-savvy copy. Don’t fall to cheap clichés. For example, if in Las Vegas, do not use signage that reads, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”
-
The last booth on earth.
Be the last booth standing. Stamina. Don’t close up shop before the end of the day. It conveys your brand in a poor light. Be the last booth to close up for the day. Use a couple Air Step Anti-Fatigue Floor Mats around your booth to prevent yourself from getting worn out too early.
-
Draw attention to special products.
Instead of show specials or discounting use “New Item” signs on new products or “Best Seller” signs to attract attention.
-
Comfort the creatures.
Make your space more inviting to visitors. Candies, mini water bottles, or fresh flowers or greenery. Consider offering snack options too, healthier alternatives like mini pretzel or peanut bags. The show special. Have a sign announcing a “show special” on some item, which is offered at a significant discount.
-
Immediacy.
Attendees should immediately know what you are selling at your booth.
